Writing for the Search Engines

An Introductory Training for SEO-Based Content Writers

Ten years ago, SEO is a term only familiar to website administrators and creators. At one point in time, it was something you could simply incorporate onto a website and making an average or below average website rank is nothing to worry about because the website already seem as though it was best in class. Today, that can still be done only if your goal is not profitability and popularity.

As the web gets more competitive, more website owners are viewing effective SEO techniques as important facet of Internet Marketing. More website owners are now actively seeking professional SEO specialists who can help them optimize their websites for their particular niche.

With the rising popularity of Internet Marketing and at the same time the rising number of businesses affected by the recession, inevitable rise and demand for outsourced SEO-based jobs has gone up. Most overseas businesses are resorting to turnkey solution when it comes to the administration and maintenance of their websites.

The Philippines has become the hub for hiring freelance SEO web content writers. Because of the English proficiency of most Filipinos, SEO service buyers find it easier to relate with Filipino service providers and convey to them what they need and what they want.

With that in mind, a full featured, forward looking SEO training program was created to answer the needs of people who are interested in this BPO job but do not have the skills and knowledge about it. The workshop will cover: the background of SEO, keyword research and selection, on page optimization, copywriting, blogging, a bit on site architecture, usability, analytics, and off site optimization.

Press Release as SEO Link Building Strategy

What is the benefit of Press Release for SEO. Basically there are many sites the offer free submission of company press releases. Text could have a minimum of 250 words to the maximum of 500 words. The sites the accept press release usually accept back links to the owner of the press release. A minimum of 2 links are allowed and you can get as much as 4 links from this SEO strategy.

Traffics. Aside from back link, you can also get a limited traffics from press release. Site that host press release always in the top pages of SERP due to its frequent update. If the visitors is satisfied with the information in the press release, they might visit your site and inquire further.

Top PR Site. There are many top PR sites today. You only need to search it by country depending in the location of your target client. PR Log is one of the best PR site for me because it not only a source of back links but they could publish right away. Once you click the publish button in the creation page, it will go live with optimized URL's.

Page Rank. Press Release sites could rich as much as PR 4. If it is frequently visited and the content is optimize while the general tough really acceptable to greater population.

For the list of latest PR site, i will post it here soon.

How Important is the Page Rank

A lot of forum and blog talks about PR which according to them is no longer important in traffic generation. They PR is just a display or website decoration. The truth is for a new website that building a traffics, PR is very important. Look at the image below and you will see the difference of PR0 to PR 4.

You can find some sites that has PR 0 and 1 but they have good traffics. It is also true. The blog or sites are penalized according to PR. They still got quality number of traffics because they have hundreds or thousands back links from other sites as well as hunderds of pages in GIP.

If you reach desirable traffics, it is fine to lose your Page Rank. But never allowed your site to lost your PR at the same time you let your back link away too.

Off Page Optimization

First, include your primary keyword phrases in your Meta tag titles, descriptions and keyword fields. You should also do this with your page headlines and subheads.

Second, add your keyword phrases to content. Roughly once or twice per paragraph is great. Keep it reasonable so the phrases are woven into your content and not redundantly repeated. Remember, if content is king, then keyword phrases are like the king’s valet - unnoticed, but always there.

Third, write in natural language. You need to incorporate your keywords, but not to the point that you ruin your page copy.
Remember, these are keywords because they are the terms that your customers are using. If it is difficult to work them into your content, something needs to be reworked. Or perhaps overhauled completely.

Fourth, try to incorporate keyword phrases in bold, italic or bulleted lists where it makes sense. This won’t have a major effect on rankings, but it will have an effect on your visitor count. Remember, everyone on the internet has the attention span of a gnat. Make your relevance obvious at first glance, and web visitors are more likely to stick around.

Fifth, take the time to read your copy out loud. If it sounds redundant and off balance to you, it will sound the same your site visitors. If you can, ask someone outside your company to read it as well, to get their unbiased opinion.

Keep in mind that these basic tips are just that, basic. By no means are they the end-all be-all for SEO. However, they are important fundamentals that should be implemented for better on-page search engine optimization.

In addition to implementing these five steps when you start out, go back periodically and check for them again. It’s so easy to get caught up in the social networking/link building/pagerank/twittering/digging/sphinning fun part of SEO that sometimes these priorities get shelved.

Keyword Density

Generally, keyword density in the title, the headings, and the first paragraphs matters more. Needless to say that you should be especially careful not to stuff these areas. Try the Keyword Density Cloud tool to check if your keyword density is in the acceptable limits, especially in the above-mentioned places. If you have a high density percentage for a frequently used keyword, then consider replacing some of the occurrences of the keyword with synonyms. Also, generally words that are in bold and/or italic are considered important by search engines but if any occurrence of the target keywords is in bold and italic, this also looks unnatural and in the best case it will not push your page up.

Sometimes online marketer go too far in their desire to push their clients' sites to top positions and resort to questionable practices, like keyword stuffing. Keyword stuffing is considered an unethical practice because what you actually do is use the keyword in question throughout the text suspiciously often. Having in mind that the recommended keyword density is from 3 to 7%, anything above this, say 10% density starts to look very much like keyword stuffing and it is likely that will not get unnoticed by search engines. A text with 10% keyword density can hardly make sense, if read by a human. Some time ago Google implemented the so called “Florida Update” and essentially imposed a penalty for pages that are keyword-stuffed and over-optimized in general.

There are many keyword ranking today. You will find that the result varies as server always look for the location before it gives results. What i am impress is that Indians always provide free seo tools for marketing.
